Coronavirus Headlines
June 3, 2020
Hopefully, maybe this time I'll be able to get through all the headlines without insanity erupting again, so I can give my husband's computer back to him and transition onto my now fixed computer.
But for the most part the insanity going on in the US due to riots and the gov't backlash and all the stuff to do with that, unless it has some direct relation to COVID19, it will be ignored here, since my goal is to cover the important COVID19 news here and not everything happening out there in the world. I can't do that, as it's not humanly possible for one person to do on their own anyhow and second it would make finding the stuff to do with COVID19 or seniors (help for them), difficult to find.
It's already difficult enough finding a single specific story in here as it is. I try to label everything so that you could find it by clicking on the label in the right hand column, but so many articles fall under the same label that even that's becoming difficult now. And the Label option in the post settings here doesn't allow for many labels per post, nor very descriptive ones either as the whole labels settings per post is limited to 200 characters. So that means I have to be very succinct when trying to decide the label/s to use and a term that would cover as many as possible of similar type articles. Like say 3-4 different articles where one is talking about the stock market, another about store closures, another about food prices and another about job losses. If I were to use a label for each like "stocks drop", "store closures", "inflation" and "unemployment" you can see how I'd be using up my 200 character limit really quickly on just those 4 stories, mentionned in a single post, so I choose "economy" to cover all four stories. But by doing that it makes it hard for anyone to find any one of those particular stories. I apologize for that, but I have no other choice because that's the way this blog site's software works.
Now on with it....
A cluster of islands: How Shetland locked down early and stopped the virus in its tracks This is what everyone should've done instead of fuming over a few hurt feelings from the Chinese.
Florida charter school holds graduation ceremony on jet skis What an awesome graduation ceremony! I just hope their diplomas were either printed with waterproof ink, or that they didn't get wet.
Will a Covid-19 vaccine signal an end to the anti-vaccine movement? That's doubtful especially if Bill Gates is involved in that vaccine in any way shape or form.
Britain's Queen Elizabeth, 94, pictured horseback riding during lockdown It's good to see she's still alive and kicking.
Ditching the water cooler: Coronavirus will transform office life Yup especially if most offices close down and all office work is done at home.
Lifelines in the Lockdown When it comes down to it, some of the most valuable people in society are at the bottom of the pay scales, or near the bottom.
Surviving an Unlivable Wage That's probably true all across North America and not just in the US.
Strange symptoms, flare-ups, weeks-long illnesses for some COVID-19 survivors And we know all those things are related to COVID19 how? Or is this just more of throw everything under the COVID19 umbrella so we (meaning the hospital or clinic that's treating it) can get increased funding?
The world reacts as American cities erupt in anger over George Floyd's death While I'm positive a lot does have to do with Mr. Floyd's death, I'm also positive that a lot has to do with pent up rage at prolonged lockdowns, loss of livelihoods, poverty, hunger etc... as well and Mr. Floyd's death was the catalyst for unleashing that rage/protest world-wide, as it is doing in the US itself.
Tribe of marauding monkeys stuns locals by observing perfect social distancing Now I don't know about the contention that they were taught. Maybe they're doing that because they're observing that in the society they live in/near and so are mimicking it. You know like the old saying goes "monkey see, monkey do". But still it's cute and makes for an interesting coronavirus related story.
Temporary foreign worker dies due to COVID-19 as disease hits southwestern Ontario farms hard You know this nonsense of needing to keep finding excuses to let foreigners into this country has to stop now, if we're ever going to beat this virus, because the more people we let in the more it'll continue. Doesn't matter the reason they're being let in. Close the border to everyone once and for all and get it over with. Meantime there's a lot of students who would've been willing to work this summer if Santa Trudeau didn't dole out a ton of money one day on his steps like he did.
States brace for disasters as pandemic collides with hurricane season Oh boy they're getting clobbered with everything all at once aren't they! IF as I suspect is the reason - that they were behind the coronavirus release in China in conjunction with the Gates Foundation and the WEF, and here too in North America (as they had to have been for it to be here so early) - then you might say this is "just rewards", getting clobbered with the virus, hurricane, & tornado season along with race riots and unbridled rage at the lockdowns and all, all at the same time. They asked for it, if what I surmise to be the case is true.
Ottawa to become 1st Canadian city to make masks 'mandatory' on transit For all the good they do. If you cough or sneeze forcefully your mask isn't protecting anyone and we already know your mask doesn't protect you from anyone. So the point of those masks again is?????
China orders firms to stop buying U.S. farm goods I guess the truth hurts. Sounds like maybe what the US has been saying about China and the virus might have some truth in it.
Stock market news live updates: Stocks rise as reopening hopes offset concerns over ongoing protests
Coronavirus: Father-of-eight jailed for stealing £30,000 of PPE to sell on eBay All I have to say about that guy is he's about as dumb as he looks. He looks like the village idiot and for him to have 8 kids that's just sad having that many village idiots in the gene pool like that. So it's good he got caught at least he won't be able to be doing any more procreating with his bunkmates inside.
ICU doctor warns: 'We could lose control of the virus again' You think? Could? I think in this case you can say Will. We will lose control of the virus again, especially given all the rallies and riots where everyone was standing on top of everyone else without any masks, yelling, screaming, chanting and just breathing heavy due to excitement and exertion (like from throwing things or running). Not to mention all the beach and park parties everyone was having before the riots broke out. So yeah I think it's pretty much a no-brainer to say we will lose control of the virus again.
Company Denied Woman Coronavirus Sick Leave, Then Fired Her: Lawsuit That was a pretty rotten thing to do.
'This could implode': The dangers of hyping up a coronavirus vaccine Well if one is never made, it will implode for sure. If one is made but it doesn't live up to expectations (in that it only provides immunity for a limited amount of time, or has major side effects, or doesn't work on a large minority of people - say about 30% or so), it'll also implode.
Why looting, protests and COVID-19 haven't pounded the stock market Because they're overly cautious in some things (like when COVID was still thought to be only in China, our stock markets in North America were terrified and so they were dropping) and oblivious to others, like the riots and looting going on there now. But I don't think the markets ever reacted to things like that before either.
Coronavirus death toll higher than hoped after thousands of cases arrived in UK before government realised Same with everywhere else too I think.
Black and Asian people in England more likely to die from COVID-19, says report Just in England? Or could this be true the world over? If it's true the world over then was this a bio-weapon designed to cut down on specific populations, along with the elderly from all racial groups?
Couples 'should wear masks while having sex' amid coronavirus pandemic, experts advise What about mitts, socks and hats too? Or how about whole body suits and masks so the only things exposed are eyes and foreheads. Ah but better wear safety googles too because you know, the coronavirus can enter the body via the eyes and attack them too. I mean what kind of nonsense is this anyhow?
Tensions Mar Paris Protest as Floyd Outrage Goes Global Some of these protests they tried to ban because of fears of the coronavirus, but they were unsuccessful.
At Drive-in Disco, It ‘Feels like Saturday Again,’ Even Without a Dance Floor – Serialpressit (News) How the heck are you supposed to shake your booty stuck inside a car anyhow?
Greek tourism minister says all foreign visitors welcome Personlly I find it rather wreckless that any country would open their borders to others this early on. I know the companies in the tourist industry and planes desperately would like it to open up again, but I'm not sure we're there yet.
Brawl At The Polls: Allegheny Co. Officials Say Voters Got Into Screaming And Shoving Match Over Face Masks As useless as they are....
Why not? They've probably already stood, lied and sat all over each other park picnics and rallies by now anyhow.
Canada's Trudeau, backed by rivals for now, has little chance to cash in on popularity boost
Negative interest rates could be needed for a 'V' recovery, Fed economist says I guess if they do that that old 1930s depression era style of saving money under the mattress will return.
Coronavirus: Ibuprofen tested as a treatment Personally, I've never trusted Ibuprofen. I've heard too many horror stories in relation to taking it. So have never taken it and won't even when it's prescribed. I'll find an over the counter substitute before I put one of those poison pills in my mouth.
Coronavirus: How lockdown affected Argentina's livelihoods I have a friend who lives in Argentina, and we've been in touch with each other on the net since the late 1990s and I can tell you that the tale of woe I heard from her in 2001 when their economy went under was way more scary and drastic than what she's telling me about the way the virus is being handled and how it's affecting them now. Basically it sounds about the same there as here. The long lines, the masks, the distancing, the washing hands, the lockdowns etc... So it doesn't really sound any worse than we have it. At least not from her personal perspective and what she's telling me. Of course like everywhere, there are people better situated to ride things out in life, compared to others in the same country, whether that's pandemics or economic crashes or what it is.
JCPenney, Tuesday Morning, Pier 1 going-out-of-business liquidation sales different because of COVID-19
Cooking during coronavirus? Best substitutes for recipe ingredients such as milk, eggs or oil As we're not under such strict lockdown now and we can get out to more stores and so on, maybe this is irrelevant, at least for the time being. But wait another 3 weeks from now when we'll be under lockdown again because of the resurgence of the first wave that never really left and flared up again because of all the socializing on beaches & in parks and getting in each others faces at rallies and riots. Then you'll endure another 50 day lock down during which time you may need this info.
Is social distancing good for your dating life? It's always been a good idea whether in Victorian times or now to try to get to know each other at least a little bit before hopping into bed with each other, if you want a lasting relationship, otherwise your relationship won't be based on anything more than lust and when that's faded so will your relationship be faded.
What nudists do during a lockdown You know this didn't even cross my mind about what they do during lockdown until I saw this article. I didn't even know we needed to know hence why there'd even be an article about it.... But alas here we are. Just another weird angle on this virus and the lockdown.
1918 + 1929 + 1968 = 2020 I know the math doesn't add up, but the historical events do. Just another one of those "different" kinds of coronavirus headlines.
5 natural ways to boost your mental health during stressful times
Artist with autism makes balloon sculptures to thank essential workers You've just got to see these balloons sculptures. They're incredible.
My rabbit for your detergent? Cubans turn to barter as shortages worsen People have always turned to bartering during rough times and this is no different.
Is Travel Restricted Within Canada During The COVID-19 Pandemic? It’s Complicated. You'd better believe it's complicated. It's much easier just to pitch a tent in your own backyard, that way you know you're allowed there and that the toilet will always be open to you for your use (since it's inside your house) and if you have your own pool, that the swimming facilities aren't restricted etc.... Yeah I know it's not really a change of scenery but in a way it is. I mean how many nights have you spent sleeping in your tent in your backyard already? If you say none, then it's definitely different than sleeping in your bedroom or at your favourite campground where you've gone year after year.
Doctor linked to Campbellton COVID-19 outbreak was planning to leave his practice
Sweden should have done more against coronavirus but broad strategy right: chief epidemiologist I saw this arrogant ahem on Noah Trevor and the only reason he likes the strategy is because it's his strategy that he came up with. Wondering though if someone close to him died on account of it, if he'd still love it though.
Son who lost both parents to COVID-19 joins class action suit against Quebec nursing homes
Putin declines British invitation to take part in coronavirus summit: Kremlin Can't say as I blame him for not wanting to finance someone else's vaccine, because we all know that whoever has actual physical control over it, will be the ones who's country gets it first.
Boris Johnson says coronavirus may have ‘its own kinetic force’ amid warnings of second wave Geez that took a ton of psychic skills that I didn't know he had.... Of course it's going to come back after the way everyone's been sharing all their germs lately.
Sea, sand and social distancing: Caribbean reopens to tourism Just in time for the heat in northern climes and hurricane season in the tropical climes... I'm sure the beaches will be packed with no breathing room whatsoever under those conditions.
PGA Tour coronavirus testing convoy ready to roll
Pandemics, protests and an 'amoral' rally: Why Wall Street yawns in the face of chaos
Brazil's Sao Paulo state suspends cuts in utilities services for poorest amid COVID-19 Well at least they're providing that much help. I didn't think they'd provide any.
Prince Charles calls on world leaders to learn from the coronavirus outbreak: 'We simply can’t waste more time' Yup he's calling it the "Great Reset" scheduled to begin in January 2021 (6 months from now) in collusion with the WEF. Who incidentally was in collusion with the Gates Foundation and the US Military at a forum in Wuhan China in October last year at a conference talking about what would happen in the next great pandemic. Then what'd'ya know.... A few weeks later the next great pandemic is born in the very city where it was discussed by those collaborators named above. Now they want to have a "Great Reset"... Wondering what that's going to entail.... I'm sure we'll all be told we have to live in a hut with no utilities whatsoever (unless it's from clean energy) or have anything unless it's 1000% green (in other words no decent clothes only fig leaves allowed) but they'll still be flitting around the planet cranking out pollutants by the tons in their private jets wearing their swanky million dollar custom tailored suits, guzzling champagne and chomping down tons of caviar. I have a clue how all this NWO autocracy works. It's do as I say and not as I do, or else.
Teachers, parents want more details on proposed summer school for children with learning challenges Well I don't blame the teachers for wanting more info on it. My son who was teaching adults in 3d design courses, part time, is now teaching less hours, for the same pay as before but he says he's swamped in work now now even compared to before when he was teaching more hours. He thinks because of the online component it's basically doubled the hours he was doing before. He thought when he was informed that he'd be teaching fewer hours than he was but making the same amount that that would be a good thing. Except he says it's created way more unpaid work for him than he had before. Before it was just grading students work after hours that he wasn't being paid for, now it's all the arrangements he has to make in order to make sure each student did and understands the work and being limited in flexibility of what the software they're using to connect to each other with can do etc... And these aren't special ed kids with learning difficulties these are adult students in post secondary courses.
Experts say Sask. could be more transparent with COVID-19 data without sacrificing privacy
China delayed releasing coronavirus info, frustrating WHO
Defence Department accused of using pandemic to withhold info from Parliament I guess this virus has been used as an excuse to crash the global economy, so why not use it as an excuse to withhold information - which seems to be way more benign than crashing economies around the world.
Montreal mayor calls on Quebec, Ottawa to help balance budget as city faces $500M shortfall
Montreal municipality makes masks mandatory in stores, public buildings All Cote St-Luc residents should be aware of this new law.
Protests are important but risks of COVID-19 must be considered: Freeland
Groups say Ontario emergency orders to fight pandemic violate privacy I don't know what the laws are governing the first responders in QC are, but I can tell you I was surprised when they accessed my husband's records and indicated that because he hadn't been in a certain hospital (that we prefer and is much closer by and accessible by public transit - for me) for x amount of years he had to go to another hospital that everyone in our region is automatically shipped to, even though the one in Montreal like I said is closer. Instead we systematically get shipped off to the horse hospital elsewhere in the province where it's further away and impossible to get to without your own car. I was not only surprised that they could do that, but angry that they did.
Class action proposed at N.S. long term care home where 53 died from COVID-19
How proceedings in the House of Commons during pandemic differ from normal
COVID-19 survivor emerges from 8-week hospital stay, issues warning to remain vigilant
Trudeau to join global COVID-19 vaccine fundraiser amid calls for fair access Fair access indeed. But knowing that Trudeau lacks a spine, do you honestly think he'll speak up on our behalf when whoever takes control of that vaccine does and decides that their people are the first ones and maybe only ones (depending on quantity made) who get it? I don't. I think he'll just shut up, sit down and take it like he does with the Chinese. And then spend the next 5 years pandering to the ones that took control of it, in hopes of seeing some of us it for us. That's how he operates.
The Coronavirus Crisis Exposed Gaps In Canada's Social Programs. Now's The Time To Fill Them. And when might they recognize the inequality between what everyone else is getting and what the seniors get? Seems like never. Like the money they promised but the seniors didn't see yet. Maybe they're waiting for the majority of us to drop dead before they allocate it.
Garneau expands required use of face masks on planes, trains, ships and transit
Why are people going out in groups in Ontario? 'Isolation fatigue', mixed messages from leaders to blame, doctor says That's one way to see it I suppose another is that most people don't even believe this virus is for real as most people don't know anyone who even had it, let alone died from it.
Montreal defers property tax deadline to September But yet you're crying for the Feds to give you $500 million asap. Our municipality hasn't deferred taxes for us and we've still had to pay them, which I've done and everyone else I know around here has too. So what's wrong with the citizens of Montreal paying theirs anyhow?
OPP warn of CERB scam Oh surprise surprise. You mean there are actually dishonest people trying to get some of that money Santa Trudeau keeps throw around like candies at a Mardi Gras parade? What a surprise!
Without internet, rural adult students feeling shut out
Canada Army Run cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns
Bank of Canada holds rate steady, saying COVID-19 economic impact 'appears to have peaked' I hope they're right and that things do not get any worse.
Federal aid for care home systems needed ahead of second wave, advocates say Along with much tougher laws that would hold anyone & everyone who abandons even one single elderly person in one of those institutions for whatever reason, gets the same treatment parents who abandon helpless kids gets (not having them taken away and put into custody obviously - but jail time for the person/s that abondonned them).
COVID-19 Lockdown Bringing Pets, Owners Closer Than Ever Before
In First U.S. Study Of COVID-19 Plasma Transfusions, 76% Of Patients Improve This is excellent news!
Loneliness From Months Of Lockdown May Have Lasting Impact On Children’s Mental Health Well hmmmm.... Being an only child for the 1st 9 years of my life and only being around an extended group of kids my age when I started kindergarten and on top of that living in a rural fishing village, where there weren't many kids around to begin with... I don't know how that impacted me, but being an only child isn't and wasn't ever considered a reason for turning into head case of some type, so I don't know why they would be now because they were home alone for a few months.
Stroke Patients Take Significantly Longer to Seek Treatment During COVID-19 Pandemic From what I've been hearing so do most other patients and they shouldn't. None of them should, no matter what it's for, whether it's a stroke, a bleeding ulcer, a twisted ankle (which may be broken but you don't know for sure), a concussion, or anything more serious than a scraped knee (which most people should be able to handle on their own at home).
Warm Weather Will Slow Down COVID-19, But Only Slightly I wish the news on that was better than it is....
COVID-19 Poses Serious Threat To The Brain Too, Doctors Warn
Watch what you say about COVID-19 on social media, Quebec College of Physicians warns its members In other words they don't want the public to know the actual truth of the matter.
'Searching for the guilty': Armenian PM asks citizens to share photos of pandemic rule breakers I heard on the news tonight that Canada has instituted a snitch line for those wanting to report on others who've cheated on some of the many dole out programs that Trudeau started in regards to COVID19. Seems like it's not bad enough forcing people to socially distance themselves now they have to have several ways and means to snitch on others everywhere. For the governments I don't think it's out of concern for their citizens health so much as it is for the money they can make with the hefty fines etc...
Is the pandemic an 'act of God'? Legally, it depends
CRA snitch line now open to report fraudulent CERB claims I hate snitches with a passion..... But as I am posting links to stories of interest to me and everyone else, I am posting this one for everyone else, who may have an axe to grind with the next door neighbour who may be a CERB cheat.
Finally caught up. Again. Until next time take care & stay well.
