Small Appliance Replacing, Last Minute Harvesting, Petition, Exhaustion &

Covid19

October 24, 2020

The last few days I was crazy busy, trying to replace some of the broken small appliances I had - to make my cooking  easier, plus I had some stuff left in the garden that I absolutely had to harvest before the snow comes - which is supposedly coming as early as tomorrow night into Monday morning. Coupled with very little sleep for those days I was just totally exhausted last night and needed every second of sleep that I managed to get.

It started with the shopping foray at Costco as my friend who's a member there, was going on and on about all the wonderful things and prices they have, and so I thought okay maybe I can get some things there at a lower price than say at Canadian Tire. So I took the Cdn Tire flyer which I had and wrote down the prices of the things that I needed to replace to bring with me to compare the prices with at Costco. So we went to Costco and basically spent the whole afternoon there because she loves the place and wanted to show me around. Anyhow I found 2 items I wanted and I guess when compared with the prices at Cdn Tire, between the two I saved $65 (and a membership is $60, so I decided maybe I'd get a membership too because who knows maybe later on there'll be other things we want or need and we'll save at least that much again, in any case my savings paid for the membership). But unlike her I wasn't all that enamoured of the place. I found it to be a too big to bother with place and a lot of empty shelves - I would never go explore the whole store as I hate shopping with a passion, to see a few sparsely stocked shelves here and there while overcrowding other shelves elsewhere. And the cost of the food, looked like a nightmare scenario come true.  Holy crap! Anyone who believes those prices are good has never been in a real grocery store in their lives and has only ever shopped there. My hair almost stood on end when I saw the prices of the meat and other foods. So after seeing all of that, I'm not even sure why we'd use our membership in the future. Maybe if there's something we want that seems expensive elsewhere we can go look there first before buying anything in case they have it cheaper. Who knows? All I know is I wasn't impressed.

So we went to Canadian Tire yesterday to get the other items that broke, seeing as how Costco didn't have any of them. We forgot one, so I guess we'll have to get it later on. Anyhow after coming home with them we had to unpack them and then take them apart to wash them and put them back together again for storage. That along with the usual household chores and trying to keep on top of the covid news, with only 6 hours sleep in the last 36 hours had me worn out and I couldn't have posted anything in here even if I had've wanted to as it wouldn't have made any sense probably.

Now for the petition:

#PublicHealthTransparencyNow:

With the rapidly increasing COVID-19 cases, particularly in Ontario and Quebec, and the lack of appropriate leadership in these provinces, residents are becoming more frustrated. Policy implementation has been haphazard to say the least and without clear and transparent communication, the policies introduced are questionable at best.

Based on our combined frustrations, our team has collaborated with experts and members of the public to create petitions for both Ontario and Quebec asking the provincial governments for more transparency on public health data and their decision making processes.

We believe that clear, transparent and timely communication of evidence and its use in decision making is vital to earn public trust and establish a concerted effort among all residents to flatten the curve AGAIN.

If you are an Ontario resident please sign and share the Ontario Petition.

If you are a Quebec resident please sign and share the QUEBEC petition.

THANK YOU!
A HUGE thank you to everyone who responded to our survey, particularly those of you who signed up to our volunteer database. We will be implementing your feedback and focusing our efforts on different tasks including a FAQ page for our volunteers to understand how our matching system works and revamping our website to reflect the amazing work that many of you have been involved with since the beginning!

*NEW* We will also be highlighting those of YOU who have been part of the COVID-19 response within COVID-19 Resources Canada and with organizations where you were matched! Look out for emails from us with a form for you to fill out to be highlighted and featured in our upcoming bi-weekly updates and on our social media channels!

Sincerely,

The COVID-19 Resources Canada Team

#SantePubliqueTransparente:

So now let's see how far I can get with the headlines today before I fall asleep again or something else happens to stop me....

Accused of COVID price gouging, Calgary company pleads guilty and admits to 'grossly excessive' prices At least they were able to put a stop to it while the pandemic was still ongoing unlike the gouging during the '98 ice storm, which they only addressed so close to the end of it, it was pointless.

Terry Fox Run sees 20 per cent fundraising boost despite pandemic: organizers I guess when there's more people with nothing to do, there's more chance they choose to do things like this.

Ontario is pouring more than $500M into long-term care, but enhanced inspections aren't part of the plan Enhanced inspections aren't part of the plan eh? And they expect improvements without any inspections? Talk about dreaming in technocolour....

I like road trips more than resort trips so this would be right up my alley.

Women are drinking nearly double during the coronavirus pandemic, study says Hey! Why not? We might as well enjoy ourselves or drink to forget what this virus has done to us, our families, our way of life, our livelihoods etc.... But I think we all pretty much have a reason to imbibe these days. If not for a way to forget at least maybe as a way of lightening the mood a bit. Maybe celebrating some of the small things in life, since we're officially forbidden to celebrate the larger things like weddings, birthdays, holidays and the like....

Health Canada approves rapid COVID testing device as Canada braces for caseload spikes It's about frigging time considering they've been available since at least May.

Yup be the good little cogs in the economic engine's wheels and just live solely to make that engine function, forget your own lives and happinesses, so long as we can make that economic engine keep on chugging. Social gatherings aren't the only means it's spreading. Wherever people get together - whether that's at work, school, church, the movie theatres, bars, stores or restaurants the germ can pass from one person to another just by being in contact with them NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE OR THE SETTING (whether that's informal like at work or school or shopping, or informal like on a date at a movie or restaurant or bar, or close as in family functions). The sooner the bozo brains in power in this country can figure that out, the sooner we'll be able to get back to normal. Because then they'll realize the futility of forbidding or limiting social gatherings while trying to make everyone continue to go to school and work. So then if they want the economy to work and not fail they'll have to come to the realization they can't stop the disease by limiting social gatherings and so just let everyone resume their lives as per normal (but maybe with mask wearing & hand washing measures still in force), or they'll force an entire hard lockdown (maybe even more than before) to try to limit the spread of it, but it won't eliminate it altogether. But just limiting social gatherings isn't going to do much to cut down on the spread while everyone's still going to work and school.

Covid-Sniffing Robots Offer Testing Alternative I like the robot sniffers better than the dog sniffers, because at least the robots won't catch it and get sick too, like some dogs can.

Well if they're just going to keep releasing contradictory guidelines from one day to the next, maybe it's good they slow it down and maybe review previous guidelines issuances before releasing new ones.

New York Hotspots Hit 6.5% Positivity, Alarming Officials and Fueling New Tensions on Schools  Well with a population of almost 20 million in the state, a 6.5% figure of that population would alarm me too, considering in that state alone that would put it at over 1 million people who are testing positive with the virus.

Of course they'll say that because the mandate is to get as many people vaccinated as possible.

Scottish MP With Coronavirus Got Train To London And Back  Another case of do as I say and not as I do.

Ministers Ignored Plea To Lock Down London Because It's A Labour City, Hints Sadiq Khan This is one more proof that this "disease" is merely a political tool to be used to achieve certain goals that they wouldn't have been able to achieve without it in "normal times".

Trump Is 'The Largest Driver' Of COVID-19 Conspiracy Theories, Study Finds Really? Like what? Bleach injections cures it? Or what? Because most of what I've heard come out of his mouth sounded more like idiocies than conspiracy theories.

I don't think that should come as a surprise.

Your Intense Pandemic Dreams Might Be Helping You – Here's Why  Boy, I sure hope they're helping me because some of them are pretty scary or freaky at times too.

Doug Liman shooting pandemic thriller 'Lockdown' in Harrods with Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor  Aren't we all already living through enough of a lockdown thriller? I don't get why all the  TV shows and movie makers are rushing to make movies about lockdowns and pandemics now. I mean I for one when I watch something, it's to think about something else different for awhile rather than being constantly reminded of what I'm already living through.

Of course not because the authorities won't be finished achieving their goals of rejigging society, the economy, the currencies and amount of population on this planet.

Coronavirus updates: Cornell study calls Donald Trump biggest source of misinformation; Moderna vaccine won't come before spring 2021 Now that I believe. I guess the other journalist can't tell the difference between misinformation and conspiracy theories.

No one wanted to travel with me, so I went on vacation with a total stranger I guess some people like to live dangerously. That's all I can say about that one.

Paris bars face possible closure as virus patients fill ICUs Like I said above it's not only the bars and social gatherings where the virus is spreading, it's wherever there are gatherings of any type, whether that family, bar, restaurant, work, play or school.

Like I said, cogs in the economic machinery. That's all we are. They don't care about our health, or mental wellbeing at all. All they care about is we work and keep that economic engine chugging along.

That's really awesome of them! I hope those lucky kids appreciate those desks!

The President Contracting COVID-19 Is A Major National Security Crisis As far as Americans are concerned EVERYTHING IS ALWAYS A MAJOR national security crisis! So why would this be any different?

Chinese state media mocks Trump's positive virus test: 'Paid the price for his gamble to play down' pandemic  China should pay the price for unleashing the pandemic on the world to start with.

Trump COVID infection thrusts world in uncharted territory OMG Talk about the media making mountains out of molehills.....

How? By forbidding people to breathe? Because I don't see how things can be stricter than lockdowns when it comes to this virus. The only thing left to do would be to forbid people to breathe at all. That way there's no danger of transmission from person to person, as there are no more persons to transmit it.

'Magical Disney experience' going away? What Disney's layoffs mean for theme park guests See what you've got to do in order to keep your parks open is make it look like visiting the park is nothing but drab and dreary drudgery and hard work. Then the gov't will be glad to let you keep it open as they only insist on closing fun things. If it's not fun, then it can stay open.

Sounds like what a lot of single people and widowed elders went through and are going through due to lockdowns.

Anyhow going to leave it here for now. Lots more where that came from, coming up again soon. In the meantime take care and stay well.
