So I don't get too bored...
April 7,
I finally got a chance to go out and see my garden. While some of it had a pretty thick leaf cover from fallen tree leaves, I didn't get to see what kind of damage or growth was in that portion of it, but the parts I did see.... 🍂
My strawberry plants, one rhubarb plant (so far), chives and some of my onions are already growing! So we at least have some hope that as spring progresses more of the perennials will start to show signs of life too. 🍓🌿
Hopefully when the part of the garden gets cleaned off from the fallen leaves, whenever my husband has a chance to get his leaf blower over there, I will be able to see if my asparagus is growing yet or not. Gawd, I've been trying to grow the stuff for like the last 10 years and last year I finally saw some signs of asparagus life in the way of ferns growing where I planted the asparagus. I hope I'm going to get actually asparagus vegetables from it and not just the asparagus ferns growing there. 🌱
Then to try to use up some of the buttermilk I bought, before it goes bad, I made some buttermilk biscuits using a recipe that I got off the net. First though I had to make my own self-rising flour as the flour I have is just the ordinary run of the mill flour. So got the biscuit cutter out and made a dozen biscuits to have whenever. They're not bad, but I think the next time I make them I might try to add some pizzaz to them as they were rather bland. Maybe some cheese & onion flakes, or perhaps garlic & chives, or maybe just sprinkled with sesame seeds or poppy seeds. I don't know, but they definitely need to be livened up a bit. 🍞
Quebec Government Projections & Data
And searched around for the stats that the QC government said they were going to release today about the projection for the month's COVID19 outcome and finally found it. I don't know if this will accept png's but I have the graph in png format and the text describing it in English. I am going to try to post the png here:
The optimistic projections, comparing provincial data to Portugal, show:
29,212 confirmed cases of the virus by Apr. 30
A peak of 1,404 people in hospital around Apr. 21 and 468 people in intensive care
1,263 deaths in the province by Apr. 30.
The worst-case projections, comparing provincial data to Italy, show:
59,845 confirmed cases of the virus by Apr. 30
A peak of 3,028 people in hospital around Apr. 15 and 1,009 people in intensive care
8,860 deaths in the province by Apr. 30
Earlier on Tuesday, Quebec’s total number of deaths increased to 150. There were also 760 more confirmed COVID-19 cases in the province, 9,340 in total.
Quebec Premier Francois Legault was pleased to announce that the number of people in intensive care has not increased since Monday, 164, and highlighted that no one in the province should relax any of the physical distancing or other public health measures in place.
I also found this additional information showing the percentage of the age groups with COVID19 in QC:
