Canning Salsa &

Covid19 Headlines

Courtesy Pixabay.com

Sept. 8, 2020

This gloomy, dark, dreary, rainy afternoon was spent chopping sufficient tomatoes, onions, peppers and garlic cloves to make a salsa recipe found here: Zesty Salsa  As I didn't have enough tomatoes to make the whole recipe I made the 1/2 recipe. The only difference is I didn't use as much hot peppers as they asked for which is about 1.25 cups of hot peppers, instead I used only one 3 inch long serrano pepper and for the hot sauce I used sriracha sauce. I didn't want to make it too hot as my husband doesn't like really hot spicy stuff, but even that was a tad too hot for him, because we had some at supper tonight with the Jamaican meat pies (like empanadas), since I had more than 3 500ml jars full, but not enough in the 250 ml jar to make it a full jar, so didn't can it.

So now tomorrow, if I don't slice my fingers off with the mandolin, first,  I plan on making dill pickles, but slicing them like bread & butter pickles are typically sliced, in round disks, that way they work better on hamburgers and the like, instead of the spears and long thin slices typically sold in stores.

In the meantime though, I guess I should post some of the accumated COVID19 headlines, since this is what this blog was set up for.

'Small events add up to a lot': Limited gatherings quietly emerge as source of coronavirus infections I'm not sure but I think that's what that 2 family bubble was all about. So that we don't visit with our son & his wife tonight and the decide to have a backyard BBQ with neighbours the next night and then off to visit friends the following night (those would all be 2 family gatherings but not the bubble they were talking about meaning you stick to the same people all the time - so if it's your kids you chose then it's your kids all the time and the same with them if they chose you then they have to stick to seeing you and only you all the time too). That's how that family bubble thing was supposed to work, but I don't think very many people understood that, or else they chose to ignore it.

Coronavirus updates: Global cases top 25M as US nears 6M; WHO warns of front line 'burnout'; experts advise against Labor Day gatherings  As of today's date and the "tally board" posted on Fox News site the numbers are globally: 27,424,421 cases with 894,163 deaths and in the US: 6,318,978 cases and 189,456 deaths. That's as of September 8, 2020.  So you can see how fast it's spreading given the date of August 30, 2020 on that article. That means that there's been an additional 2 million or so more cases globally in just over a week.

When N.S. shut down home births amid COVID-19, a covert mission began  What? You mean they opened  the Lunenberg ER up for all days and hours now and not just a few hours a day for a few days a week? And it's like that province wide too? Because even before the pandemic it was hard to see an ER doctor there unless you happened to be there at the right time on the right day. But it's rather hard sometimes to plan precisely which day and hour a baby will be born or when you'll have that car accident that you need treatment for. So it's surprising now that most other hospitals across Canada are shutting down their ERs to anyone unless they have COVID that NS hospitals are now open to expectant moms whenever they need to be.

Trump leans into his '180,000 deaths is a statistic' reelection strategy

New Trump pandemic adviser pushes controversial 'herd immunity' strategy, worrying public health officials  Well given the projected timeline for when one will realistically be ready to go, we'll either all have had it or died from it by then, so I don't see why it worries them. It's realistic and probably what will happen.

In China’s Xinjiang, forced medication accompanies lockdown  Take note. They're doing everything the Chinese did from city wide (in our case though more like province and country wide) lockdowns to mass testing to imposing social distancing etc.... So if they're instituting lockdowns to forcibly administer vaccines, you can be guaranteed that same scenario will be playing out here too, if we let the gov't officials get away with and by the looks of things, we will.

Canada has contracts for up to four COVID-19 vaccines but they won't be mandatory  For now, they won't be mandatory, until they get here and until they have enough to force everyone to get one. But until then they won't be mandatory. Like all the other "but we don't see the need to get people to wear masks" and "we don't see the need to lockdown" and "no there won't be any forced social distancing" until 2-3 days later when suddenly there were needs for mask wearing, lock downs and social distancing. 'Shame and blame': Are college COVID-19 cases the fault of campuses full of reckless partiers? Experts, students say no Of course not. Why would reckless partiers be to blame? Because they'd be too drunk & stupid to catch anything let alone a virus, is that why? Somehow I think if there was reckless partying going on there or anywhere that would be to blame.  No questions asked. Stupid is as stupid does. I'd think kids of that calibre that are too stupid to realize their own actions caused their own problems would be too stupid to be admitted to college or university.  Didn't know the colleges and universities were so desperate now that they've sunk so low as to be admitting the village idiots across the US. Because seriously you have to be on that level to not know or at least realize that yes indeed it's your stupid actions that led to that. I'm sorry but I have a very low tolerance for colossal stupidity like that.

Bad News, Wasted Time & Veggie Preservation Along With....

The Inescapable COVID19 Headlines

Courtesy Pixabay.com

Sept 3, 2020

I guess I'll start this off in the order of the title, it'll be easier that way.

The "bad news" isn't all that "bad" per se, unless it turns out to be COVID19, as our son called us tonight to postpone our weekend plans that we had to get together for pizza on the BBQ, that I was going to make for us. Turns out he's not feeling well, with a sore throat and sniffles. No coughing and no fever so far as he knows yet. But his wife is a nurse so she should be able to take his temperature and make sure of that.  The thing is if it turns out to be COVID19, and if we didn't have it already (but I think we did), we'll be getting it as they were here on the previous Sunday gone by. Though he thinks he's already had COVID19 back in February, so maybe it's just a cold or the flu, let's hope that's all it is and not COVID19, because I don't want to have to sit around and worry about him. But whatever it is, he's sure it's because he rides a motorcycle and when he stops to fill the tank with gas (they're small tanks), he uses his bare hands and has no hand sanitizer on the bike with him, like he does in his Jeep. I'm going to have to tell him to buy surgical gloves and always keep a pair in his pocket so if he needs to fill his tank with gas he can put a pair of those on first and dispose of them immediately afterwards. I didn't think of it while I was on the phone with him.

On top of that we (both my husband and I) were flat out exhausted for the last few days and I do believe we slept almost all of yesterday and got up really late today. We can't figure out why we're so frigging tired like that all the time and it's driving us crazy. Though I did blanche a bunch of cauliflower, then some turnip & carrots together (we mash them together as a veggie side dish usually for meals like Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, or we use them in chunk form - the form they're blanched and frozen in, in stews etc...) plus cut up some peppers to freeze as well.

Today most of the wasted time involved going to the pharmacy for my ventilin pump and the pharmacist there (the one who fills in for the owner when the owner can't be there) I frigging well hate. She's the one that chases me around the store grabbing whatever over the counter medication I want like say potassium supplements (because I need them, otherwise I'm all cramped up and in horrible pain and can't move at all). My body works overtime excreting potassium through every pore in my body as well as through the usual channels, so I'm always getting all kinds of muscle cramps all over the place. One night I had cramps simultaneously in one arm (the arm I needed to use at that precise moment in time), my thorax and my abdomen, along with one in one leg calf and my toes on both feet. OMG, I was crying and basically screaming in pain, so my husband ran and got the potassium pills for me and peeled a banana and told me eat this now - maybe it'll be able to help before the pills kick in. Anyhow she has a habit of chasing me around the store and grabbing just about everything I pick up off any of the shelves out of my hands and telling me I can't have it. I'm almost 2x her age (hence I have experience, wisdom & acquired knowledge over the years that she hasn't attained yet) plus I was a nurse.

So one day a couple of months ago when she did that, I flipped out and basically called her every name I could think of that wouldn't turn everyone else's faces red. Her I didn't care if her face turned, red, green or blue, it was the other people that I didn't want to shock or offend. I'm sure my behaviour shocked them because it's not often you see someone my age flip out like that. But I was beyond exasperated at that point with her taking everything out of my hands and putting it back. Mostly it was things like potassium, women's vitamins, and other supplements. Basically the only thing she allows me to buy are my prescription meds, toothpaste and toilet paper.

Anyhow that being said, today I went to get my ventilin pump and she was there, but she wouldn't give me my pump right away (there was no one else but her, me and her lab technician in the store). Apparently she wanted to play nice and decided she'd delay giving me my pump until she was able to have a "nice friendly chat" with me, which lasted about 20 minutes or so. Then again I was getting exasperated by this delay as I had things I wanted to do today, so I insisted on getting the pump so I could leave. So she gave it to me and I left, but I guess she was trying in her own weird way to be sociable with me.

Then I wanted some lids - actually the screw bands for the lids, for the mason jars, but they don't sell those by themselves so you have to buy the whole thing usually they're sold in a box of 10 or 12. So we went to the nearest grocery store to find they were all sold out, so we went to the next nearest one and they too were all sold out.  So that was another colossal waste of time.

So when we came home I went out in the garden and got some of the herbs (curry, chives & tarragon)  that I wanted to dehydrate and brought them in the house and arranged them on the dehydrator. Started that going and then looked around for some screw bands that aren't rusty and stumbled upon this box that we must've bought last year, of completely new and unused jars with the lids on them.  Whoo Hoo. So now all I have to do is wash them in the dishwasher tonight in order to use them tomorrow to make my stuff. Not sure what I'll start with as I have lemons, tomatos and cucumbers that I need to work on. I think I'll probably start with either the lemons or the tomatoes, depending on which one looks like they'll last longer than the other one.  If it's lemons I'm making lemon ginger preserves and if it's tomatoes I'm making chicken wing sauce and if I have enough left over maybe a hot sauce. I plan on making dill pickles with the cukes though. So now we have an idea of what I'll be doing tomorrow, assuming things go my way. I'd also like to make gingered pears - we have the pears but we also like pears just for munching on for snacks, so it's doubtful I'll be able to do that. We also have a watermelon and maybe I'll make watermelon rind pickles as well when we've gone through the watermelon. I know I've got to try to find the mint in the garden (if the morning glory didn't strangle it all, yet) so I can make mint jelly, mint liqueur (like creme de menthe), dried mint for tea, and maybe even a mint ice cream.  So I will have days I won't be posting in here because of all those things I have to take care of before the frost comes. Not to mention getting the other veggies like carrots, kale, mustard, etc out of the garden and blanching them too. So that's just a warning in advance....

Now for the headlines....

So say you have a toddler's tricycle and want to trade up to a 2 wheeler for say a 5 year old, you may be able to do it there. Or you can offer something to someone on Freecycle and pick something up from someone else. So say the tricycle is wanted by a certain person, but another person is offering that 2 wheeler you wanted you can still get it. So long as you already offered something to someone else. I'm not sure if you can trade services, like say babysitting for a hair cut or things similar but you can look into it.

Last Post of Month and Here's Hoping I Can Continue....

Covering COVID19

Courtesy Pixabay.com

August 31, 2020

When I posted my blog page for the end of last month beginning of this month, the next time I logged in to post a blog page here, I found out that Google had reworked everything, preventing me from linking the headlines titles to the actual web addresses for them, and so I couldn't continue until I found where they hid the "classic blogger" button. Which took nearly 1/2 a month as they had it well hidden or removed it completely and only put it back when they had enough people complaining about the new blog editor. So given that this is the end of the month (maybe it was a month of "grace") who knows what I'll face when I log in tomorrow to write a blog post. So this may or may not be the end of the COVID19 coverage from me, depending on what I find the next time I log in. If they've disabled the "classic blog" button again and made the new blog editor so I can't link titles to web addresses the way I do now, or screwed it up so bad that it's actually more difficult to use than it is now, this will be the end of it. Though I hope not, at least not yet. Just letting you know, in case....

So that being said, I'm going to try to post as many of the headlines as I can, so I won't be dilly dallying, nor making a lot remarks on them either, just so you can get as up to date on the headlines as I can get you before having to sign off for the night.  So strap yourselves in, and get ready to read.

De Beers Cuts Diamond Prices After Covid-19 Curbs Demand  Another surprising aspect of this pandemic.

'I could have suffocated': Peru's pandemic tensions burst with nightclub tragedy  People are risking their lives now just for a few hours of socialization and some fun. That's what the pandemic rules and laws are doing to people.

Jared Kushner made a deal with Russia for ventilators during the COVID-19 crisis, but every single machine was faulty, report says  What is wrong with politicians brains? Are they all that stupid? Like Kushner and Trudeau etc? I mean why on God's Green Earth would they believe or trust adversarial countries like Russia and China anyhow? I mean you'd think if they were going to buy ventilators, or partner with a vaccine developer they'd at least be in allied and or actual friendly countries and not countries that keep screwing them over all the time like Russia does to the US & China does to Canada.  I mean duhhhh.... How stupid do you have to be to do stuff like that anyhow?

UK will get first access to Oxford vaccine, No 10 says  I guess that's normal. Any sane rational leader that cared about their own voting taxpayers would put them ahead of everyone else on the planet too, except maybe Trudeau et. al.

Real Canadian Superstore and No Frills impose mandatory face masks for shoppers Here in QC, you have to wear masks in all public spaces including stores.

N.W.T. film kicks off Canada-wide, pandemic-themed documentary series  I don't know about anyone else, but that would be the last thing I want to see at this point in time. Maybe later on for historical purposes, someone would want to watch it, but right now? While we're in the middle of it and it already seems we're immersed in it up to our eyeballs and the end of it is nowhere in sight, I don't think we are interested in more of it. At least I'm not.

Visitors to some long-term care centres subject to COVID-19 waiver before seeing loved ones  This just seems to be adding insult to injury if you ask me. First they don't let anyone in to see their loved ones even while they're dying and then they let them in, but ask them to sign forms waiving the institution of any legal responsibility for them contracting COVID19 while there visiting loved ones.  So in other words those institutions are nothing more than breeding grounds for COVID19 and they have no intention of cleaning it up nor protecting anyone from the virus at all. If I had a loved one in such a place, I'd be removing them from there pronto and suing the institution for all harms caused to my loved one on top of that.

Rising interest in tiny homes for Albertans during pandemic  Yeah I felt the same way when we moved here, being close to nature and the water. Now we have huge mansions all around us and what looks like a used car lot across the street from (actually it's a private house where the couple owns a bazillion cars and they have to park them all outside blocking our view of the water - even though they have 2 huge garages). So um yeah. I hope she's still able to enjoy the view a couple decades down the road, because a lot changes over time that you have no control over, especially the view.

Bubble fatigue cited as mental challenge during NHL playoffs  Yup, I hear them. Same  here. Bubble fatigue, quarantine fatigue, lockdown fatigue, pandemic rules fatigue and all the rest of the related BS too, I'm just totally fed up to the eyeballs with. If I were 20-30 years younger, I'd probably be inciting an uprising or something, just to stop all this freaking oppressive BS.

Truckers' fears of U.S. pandemic trip up a sector suffering amid recession   Yet another angle and aspect of this pandemic we don't know or think about.

'Nerve-racking': Staff talk about stress of first B.C. school to start this year Oh someone please shoot me and put me out of this BS misery would you!?! "Nerve-racking".... Come on, there's been flus way worse than this. Even the Hong Kong flu in 1969 was worse or about as bad as this and no one flipped out over it the way everyone's flipping out over this. Talk about melodrama and drama queens....

Danish journalist covering Indigenous opposition to Trans Mountain pipeline denied entry to Canada  I guess he hasn't heard.... Our borders are closed because of a pandemic. News doesn't seem to spread very rapidly amongst journalists then if he didn't know that already.

Man who believed virus was hoax loses wife to Covid-19 I don't know why he'd think it's a hoax. It's not a hoax by any means, but it's not nearly as bad as the media and certain authority figures wants you believe, either.

Health care worker may lose her hands because of Covid-19   Very sad. I wish her all the best.

Thailand floats plan to welcome back international tourists in October  Personally, I'm of the mind that countries should wait until the virus is gone and done with before reopening borders.

Live coronavirus found on meat, seafood weeks later, researchers say  So now I'm wondering what's safe to eat, except what we grow, harvest and prepare ourselves? I mean how many people paw over the fresh produce at the supermarkets, nevermind stand near while coughing or sneezing? Then the virus still being present on frozen meat and fish after 3 weeks. I guess that goes without saying that that's also true for frozen produce (like corn, brussels sprouts etc) and frozen prepared foods too huh? What about preserved foods like jam and pickles? How about canned foods like peas and beans etc? Is the virus still alive and well in those types of foods too? Or has anyone done any tests on such things?

Getting a COVID-19 vaccine to market will be hard. Getting Americans to use it will be, too.  Maybe it wouldn't have been so hard if the authorities told Gates to keep his meddling and money out of the COVID19 vaccine venture altogether. Now no one knows which vaccines to trust or not trust because he's meddled in a lot of them, if not all of them.

China’s Economy Is Bouncing Back—And Gaining Ground on the U.S.   Yes, and as I asked before... WHY? Why are they doing so well now with no new cases and resurgences? After all when you look at it, they struggled with it from December until about the end of February, then it magically all disappeared and there hasn't really been any large reoccurances of it whatsoever there and they're just all magically virus free. So I suspect they have and have had even before the outbreak vaccines against it that they didn't tell anyone about, but used on their citizens after the subsidence of the initial outbreak in December. In less than 3 months (if you believe their late December timeline), they were able to over come it and not have any resurgence from it? Why? How come no other countries have been able to accomplish that? Not even NZ?

Fauci warns against emergency coronavirus vaccine approval before widespread testing   Of course he does, because he wants time to get his developed and in place for approval before anyone else's is.

With headlines like that from the US, I'm happy to be Canadian and to have our good ole medicare coverage here in Canada.

Van Morrison blasts Covid gig limits as 'pseudoscience'  And sir TB Sheets, ought to know all about that, since he's a pseudoscientist himself. Get over yourself there Van, it's not as if you have that many people who want to go hear you in the first place. You have maybe 2 hits out of all the garbage you've cranked out over the years, so I'd be surprised if you even had enough fans to fill the allotted seating now.

COVID-19 Is Transmitted Through Aerosols. We Have Enough Evidence, Now It Is Time to Act  Talk about slow learners. We know coronaviruses are cold viruses (that's the family of cold viruses). We know colds are transmitted via aerosols. We know that COVID19 is a coronavirus. We know it's a respiratory illness. So knowing all that we should also know that it too is transmitted via aerosols. The fact that it's taken this amount of time to figure the obvious out, tells me one of two things, either our "scientists" are unqualified idiots, or they're stalling for time. Which is it?

Revved by Sturgis Rally, COVID-19 infections move fast, far  Everyone with a thimbleful of brains should've seen this coming. So it shouldn't be taking anyone by surprise.

Trudeau considered best to manage pandemic, revive economy, poll suggests  He and the Cdn media wishes but I for one can't wait to see him ousted and preferably thrown in jail for all the harm he's done to Canada and Cdns starting with him importing a half a gazillion Syrian "refugees" at our expense and then letting everyone in the world walk across our border at Roxham Rd and paying terrorists millions of taxpayers dollars and then the BS with SNC Lavalin. Then we have the black face scandal and the Mr. Dressup scandal in India, and the lavish vacations at the Kahn's island and then letting the coronavirus into the country. Not only letting it in but standing at the border with open arms giving it welcome kisses on each cheek, causing massive amounts of death and suffering (ergo qualifying for a mass murderer or genocide charge), destroying our economy by lockdowns and doling our money out to anyone & everyone every day on the front steps, except those he vowed to protect - which were the seniors, who got next to nothing. Then finally we get to the WE Charity and the BS going on there, where they felt compelled to redact most of the papers given to the commissioner who is investigating that BS. The only thing I think he should be managing if we have another election is the sheets on his bed in his prison cell where he'll spend the rest of eternity for all the damage he did to our country.

Scotland's handling of virus boosts support for independence  Oh what? You think you did such a great job at handling the virus do you, that you think it's reason to separate from the UK huh? Why would you think that and what gives you the right to even think that to begin with? Considering the fact that they purposely took COVID19 patients and put them in the long term care homes? It's like the British did with the natives here in Canada - sent a bunch of blankets covered in smallpox over with the settlers to trade with the natives, knowing they had no immunity against it and it would wipe them out. So is that what they tried to do with the elders in the long term care facilities in Scotland? Wipe them out by putting COVID19 patients in amongst them? If that's the case, what makes you think you have the moral superiority here anyhow? I'd call that despicable and the person who was responsible for that decision should be held for mass murder if not genocide. That's what I think. But I don't think it gives you grounds for separation. If anyone should want to separate it should be the UK from reprehensible mass murderers such as yourselves. And I am of Scottish & Irish heritage myself, so it pains me to say that.

How Trevor Noah Brought ‘The Daily Show’ Into His Home — and the Future   He uses his iPhone to do the show? Really? How's he broadcast it from his livingroom though? Just the fact that he was able to do that with an iPhone blows me away.  I never watched his show while it was in studio, but when he started the Daily Social Distancing Show from his apartment, I started watching because I thought the concept was unique and interesting.

I'm leaving it here for now and I hope I'll be able to continue blogging about this from here on in, but if I can't remember what I said at the top of this post, it won't be because I don't want to, but because the features I depend on to do the blog have been tampered with, or removed, if they implement their new blog thingamabob on me and I can't get back to the classic blog anymore.

Stay well and take care until next time.

Pineapple Zucchini Bread, Dinner at a Restaurant &

Covid19

August 30, 2020

This afternoon I made a batch of PINEAPPLE ZUCCHINI BREAD using the recipe found at that link. I've had that recipe for years now, even before I had a garden. I went looking for recipes to use zucchini after a neighbour of ours gave us a humungous zucchini - was almost as long as the kitchen table and must've weighed at least 20 lbs, by itself. If not more. I found that and a few other recipes to use the zucchini with, but this one was the all time winner hands down. Everyone, that I've ever served it to or given it to has loved it. Some have asked me for the recipe as well. Some people have thought it was a kind of Christmas cake or festive cake of some sort, though I generally keep 1 of the 3 loaves it makes in the freezer to serve around Christmas time, it's not a Christmas cake or a cake of any kind per se. I give one loaf to our son, as he loves it and the other I keep for us to have whenever the mood strikes.

After they came out of the oven my husband suggested we go out for supper and so that's what we did. The restaurant was almost packed and here everyone is saying that no one wants to go to restaurants yet as it's "too dangerous". Rightttt....

We just got home a few minutes ago and I'm ready to go to bed, because  we ordered drinks with our dinners - Mai Tais to be exact. My husband drinks about 40% of his and then decides that he doesn't want to drive somewhat impaired and so he waited until I'd drank about 1/2 of mine and poured the rest of his in my glass. So now, while I'm not drunk or even tipsy I am sleepy and would like to go crawl in bed. But if I do, that'll really do a number on my sleep-wake cycle then.  So I'm trying to force myself to stay up until my normal bedtime, meantime doing some of the things I normally do or should do at this time of night. One of those being add in some headlines about COVID19 on my blog here....

So let's get crackin'!....

Concerns over Canada's reliance on China-made COVID-19 vaccine  Rocky relations may be to blame???? Seriously? You think?

Advocates worried as COVID-19 cases among transit workers continue to rise  That's probably true on all public transport systems.

Fraser Health confirms COVID-19 outbreak at Abbotsford long-term care home I'm just wondering if that's because they do in Canada like they did in Scotland, and that is send in patients from hospitals or workers who have it or tested positive to it, on purpose.

Some people use fear, avoidance to discriminate against health-care workers, study suggests  Look before COVID19 came along there were plenty of people who didn't like doctors, dentists and other health professionals for a multitude of reasons from not trusting them, to being afraid they'd get hurt by them while being treated for something. So this isn't anything new.

As Freeland takes finance job, crisis will dictate spending plans, experts say  In case you're interested in her writings that questioned the plutocrats you can download her book here: Plutocrats: The Rise of the New Global Super-Rich and the Fall of Everyone Else it's in epub format and downloadable at the longfiles link.

COVID-19 and lack of queen bees caused delay in honey season  Is there a problem with selling it nationally across provincial borders, that we're not aware of? If not, then why not do that?

Global coronavirus deaths exceed 800,000   Considering there's over 25 million cases world wide, that's nothing in death rate. Comparable to a bad flu season basically.  Orrrrrrr...... If you want to do like the scaremongerers do.... We'll use their own examples and throw this back in their hypocritical faces.... 800,000 deaths in a world population of 7 billion? Like your 50 million deaths in a world population of 1.9 billion for the Spanish flu. Some how I don't think they compare. Even the death rates compared to case numbers doesn't compare considering there were 500 million cases of the Spanish flu world wide with 50 million deaths... So 800,000 deaths with 25 million cases in a population of 7 billion is a mere drop in the bucket compared to the Spanish flu. That's putting it into perspective once and for all. So anyone who can even do simple math can tell the difference in severeity between the 2.

Thomas Restobar Club: Crush kills 13 as Peru police raid party violating lockdown  More tragic COVID related deaths that won't be classified as such, but is as much COVID related as if it was since it was caused by the COVID laws.

Coronavirus: Missing school is worse than virus for children - Whitty  Agreed. Kids need to interact with their peers in order to develop social skills and learn some valuable life lessons and coping skills along the way, and not just the academics.

Coronavirus pandemic: Children aged 12 and over should wear masks - WHO  Personally, I think if it's the kids that are the spreaders and super spreaders of this disease they should all be made to wear masks as soon as they're old enough to understand they have to wear one and keep it on - say around age 3 and up.

China-US comedians: 'We hope jokes travel faster than the virus’  Personally, I don't think there's anything funny about China and this virus. It originated there and then they screwed Canada over for the vaccine we developed together with them. We have nothing while they're starting to vaccinate their population already.  The way they've treated Canada and Canadians over the last few years in my mind is enough to throw the clowns in the Chinese embassy out on their ears and bring our ambassadors home from there and if I were a warmongerer (which I'm not but in this case, they'd be tempting me a lot if I were the one in charge of this country) I'd say drop a few mustard gas grenades on them and their cities.... Cut down on a few hundred million Chinese (useless dog & cat eaters) - that would be cutting down on population, but without using biological weapons like they unleashed on the world with this virus, but instead using chemical weapons to rid the earth of the infestation while keeping architecture still standing.  I would never normally advocate anything so cruel and awful for anyone other than ISIS (but they deserve it and I'm sure I pretty much have the concensus of the world behind me on that one), but the Chinese and their behaviour towards Canada and Canadians has made me think differently about them too and would love to see Canada retaliate against them even just by cutting all ties and trade with them and seizing all Chinese owned assets in Canada and kicking them out of the country. That would do too.

I don't want to hear any Canadian Chinese whining at me about racism. It has nothing to do with race. It has to do with politics and how they've treated Canadians. Even if they were white, but treated us the way they have I'd still advocate the same treatment. So no, it's not racism, it's political and called standing up against political bullies for ourselves.

More than 176,000 in US have died of COVID-19; 57% of Republicans polled say that is 'acceptable'   That was the total on August 23, a week ago now, so I'm sure it's higher than that today. But that's atrocious that lawmakers would consider that many deaths acceptable. If they had as many as that die in a bombing or a skirmish somewhere, they'd be singing songs about it forever and a year about all the lives lost during that battle or bombing, but from a disease "that's acceptable". UNbelieveable how callous they can be.

Laptop shortage threatens back-to-school plans as COVID-19 pandemic causes delays  I just never even would've thought of this as being affected by COVID19.

Keeping endorphins flowing during quarantine That's probably why a lot of people are feeling depressed, because of lack of endorphins due to inactivity or not having anything really of interest to do,  or any incentives to do anything of interest.  When it's the same old, day after day followed by the same thing at night (in other words confined to the 4 walls of your house, and not going anywhere, not seeing anyone, or anything new and just staying home in the same rooms doing the same thing day after day where days segue into sleepless nights where you find yourselves just basically doing the same old thing and watching the same old routine shows), it gets to be monotonous and boring and you just begin to wonder why you even get up out of bed at all anymore. Because you don't feel any joy, excitement, anticipation about anything as it's always the same thing, with nothing to look forward to, except maybe what you'll have for lunch or supper - maybe not even that either. So when there's no anticipation even, never mind excitement or joy, and you can't exercise to increase the endorphins, you start to sink into depression or at least a non-chalence that borders depression, where you really don't care if you get out of bed or not because other than needing to relieve yourself in the toilet there's almost no other reason to get up. I think we are all starting to feel like that a lot these days.  Even though we have things we could do, as in baking or cooking, or making things (like hobbies) some of us wonder why bother? Who are we going to share all this wonderful food that we make with, because we're not allowed parties of any kind anymore. Making things - unless it's something we ourselves want or need, what's the point? We can't go to craft fairs to sell it, we can't even see the people we maybe made it for because they're not in our immediate bubble, etc... It's like, why bother with anything. We even feel like that ourselves from time to time, especially more so now, than in  the beginning.

Two Florida teachers turned their students' desks into little Jeeps to make social distancing less scary  You've got to go see this story, if only for the picture. They are sooooooo cute.... Wish I had fun teachers like that when I went to school. Maybe I'd have turned out better, and smarter than I am, if I did. Who knows?

COVID-19 treatments: What's taking the clinical trials so long? In Canada's case, it's because we don't have a vaccine to trial. China stole it.

COVID-19 isolated me from my normal life — and allowed me to see what had been wrong with it I guess for some it allowed them to slow down enough to meditate on their lives and realize the error of their ways etc, but for seniors who were already basically living life like this, all it did is make their lives even duller and more boring, by limiting their social circles and activities that they could do outside the home.

Undeterred by tragedy, Lebanon's youth continue to fight for change  This added burden to their survival on  top of the hunger due to Covid19, is just heartbreaking.

Richard Eskow Nursing home COVID-19 death tolls reveal America's shameful elder-care crisis  Oh it's not just in the US that it's shameful, Canada has plenty to be ashamed about in this case, especially Quebec & Ontario.

COVID-ravaged Brazil becoming vaccine lab for English, Chinese researchers  The Chinese should use their own citizens to test their own stinking vaccine on and not use everyone else as guinea pigs. Besides what do the Chinese even need a vaccine for anyhow? They brewed the virus up, released it, let it infect a few hundred thousand of their population and kill off some of them before spreading it to the rest of the world. Now that the rest of the world has it, they don't and can walk around like as if nothing ever happened. So what gives there anyhow? How'd they get clear of it and stay cleared without a vaccine anyhow? Or do they secretly have one and had it all along while they hijacked ours on us? If they had a vaccine all along then that means that virus was manipulated into a bioweapon and released by them on purpose.  Just wondering why and how it is, they're suddenly so squeaky clean and rid of the virus while everywhere it else it just keeps going around and around like a freaking carousel!?!

Coronavirus updates: Florida COVID-19 cases on verge of grim milestone  How could 1 US state have 600,000 cases on it's own anyhow? Canada is a whole freaking country and we don't have anywhere near that many cases all provinces & territories combined!

Instagram deletes account advertising ASU COVID-19 parties I'm sure they found other means of getting the word out even if their account got shut down.

END OF AN ERA KFC drops ‘Finger Lickin’ Good’ slogan from ads after 64 years as it’s not Covid safe   Yet another thing this stupid virus is affecting. Wondering why they didn't drop the slogan during the Hong Flu in 1969 then? It too was a pandemic and affected way more people that I knew even as a young kid, than I know who's been affected with this virus now.

Tourist Hotspot Bali to Remain Closed to Foreigners All Year  Very smart of them. Shows that they at least care about their people, unlike some countries I could name but shall refrain from doing as the list is way too long for me to recite here and now.

Covid Victims Are Forced Into Filthy Warehouses in Venezuela  Is there any end to the misery forced upon people due to this virus? Any? At all? Anywhere? It just seems like one steady stream of misery associated with this pandemic.

Economists see a chance of a double-dip recession, survey shows  That's in the US, but the way  Trudeau has spent us into oblivion during the pandemic we're apt to see much worse than that, before it's all over, here in Canada.

First documented coronavirus reinfection reported in Hong Kong  Again, reinfection? Or merely a relapse as the person wasn't totally over it? Or false negative tests? Even with the flu, lots of people have relapses, because even though they're thought to be all better they aren't and the virus is still there but weakened, and when the person's immune system or body is affected by something that causes their body defenses to weaken or be lowered, that's when the virus comes flaring back to life. That's happened in many diseases and cases in the past, so it's not necessarily a "reinfection", it's merely the same infection that was thought to be gone, but wasn't totally flaring back to life again. Or like I said false negative tests (there seems to be plenty issues with the tests for this virus, so that's a possibility there too).

SFO opens first airport COVID-19 rapid testing site in the US  I hope they prove to be more accurate than a lot of other tests out there that were highly faulty.

The TV Industry Will Never Recover From the Coronavirus  Oh, com'on gimme a break will you!?! There's so many articles out there claiming this industry or business or way of life will never recover from Coronavirus. You want to see how fast life goes back to normal once the virus is gone? Even right now, there's lots of people out there acting like there's no virus, never was, and never will be. As far as they're concerned all these rules surrounding the virus are just hype and BS and they have no time for them and that's now in the dead center of a global pandemic. When it starts to wane and is banished completely or dissipates on it's own, you'll see everyone will be back to normal again, including all the industries and businesses that weren't ever supposed to return to normal again. This is just sheer hyperbole.

People are loving this button hack to stop glasses steaming up while wearing a face mask  I'm just wondering how that'll feel on the bridge of my nose if I'm wearing both the mask and my glasses all day? I mean won't the button or the knot underneath, from sewing the button on, eventually irritate the bridge of my nose? I don't know as I never tried it, but looking at it, it looks like it probably would.

Ten countries kept out Covid. But did they win?  Well even though we let COVID in, we didn't win either considering our economy almost got wiped out and millions of people lost their jobs and we have no tourism to speak of either. But hey, let's make believe we won anyhow, that way we can feel superior over the ones who were smart enough to protect their people (at least they protected something in their country - whereas here we didn't protect anything BOTH the PEOPLE & THE ECONOMY GOT HIT & HIT HARD) even if their economies got hit badly. So yeah they won. Hands down.

Anyhow, I'm leaving it there for now.... Until next time, take care and stay well.
